Freedlight was founded in 2024 by Heather Finn, VMD and Lucas Sandidge. We’re excited to share the launch of our updated website and blog, along with an upcoming new product release! With so many recent additions to our company, we’d like to introduce ourselves to new members of our community and reintroduce ourselves to those who have been with us from the beginning.
Freedlight Performance was started to answer a common question I hear frequently while making my rounds as an equine veterinarian: “what supplements should I feed my horse?”
My name is Dr. Heather Finn and I have been a practicing equine veterinarian for 15 years and have a deep passion for providing horses with the highest standard of care. When faced with the above question, I often struggled with the answer. The supplement market is large, and determining efficacy and quality is challenging, especially in the absence of national labeling standards or a unified regulatory body. The industry operates under a patchwork of state regulations with minimal overlap.
After reviewing available products, current medical research, and the most recent NRC (National Research Council), it was clear something was missing from the marketplace. While I had the scientific background to formulate a top-quality product, I needed support in operations, logistics, and marketing. This is where my co-founder, Lucas Sandidge, comes in.
Lucas is a former United States Army Officer and has over ten years of experience in corporate America. With his business acumen and experience navigating complex projects, Freedlight Performance was formed. Today, he continues to steer daily operations and brand marketing.
At Freedlight Performance we create small-batch, all-natural products, with no fillers and no added sugars to support equine athletes. Our goal at Freedlight Performance is to empower owners, trainers, and veterinary professionals with trusted, science-driven products that prioritize a natural approach to animal care.
